WashU Mindfulness Science & Practice faculty lead Todd Braver and colleagues in the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences have published a new study on the neurological effects of mindfulness practice in ScienceDirect.
Working alongside Natee Viravan of Mahidol University in Thailand, Braver, Yanli Lin, Marne White, and Deanna Wu produced the study, entitled, "Distinct mindfulness states produce dissociable effects on neural markers of emotion processing: evidence from the late positive potential."
The study is part of an effort to test potential links between mindfulness practice and emotional regulation. While the study notes that this is a widely repeated claim, there is still a lack of empirical evidence to back it up.
Mindfulness Science & Practice is a multiyear program funded by the Incubator for Transdisciplinary Futures.
