This initiative will integrate perspectives from the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities around one of the defining local, national, and international endeavors of our times: global health.
Our institutional strength in public health, Arts & Sciences’ respected program in environmental studies, and WashU’s enhanced commitment to racial diversity and inclusion provide a unique opportunity to offer a major that emphasizes environmental health and the role that racism and inequalities play in health outcomes.
As the program builds, it will also create opportunities to collaborate with the School of Medicine, McKelvey School of Engineering, Olin Business School, and the Brown School. Building a course of global health study that draws together multiple disciplines, this program will enhance WashU’s reputation and competitiveness in relation to peer institutions, while broadening the knowledge base of the strong pre-med and pre-health students we currently attract.
