LEC Tropical Forest February: Explore St. Louis’ Only Tropical Forest

Join Living Earth Collaborative and WashU’s Center for the Environment at the Missouri Botanical Garden for Tropical Forest February, a celebration of the lush biodiversity housed right here in St. Louis. The event will kick off with an talk by Dr. Mónica Carlsen, who will introduce you to the vibrant world of the only tropical forest in St. Louis—the Climatron. Did you know the Climatron is the world’s first air-conditioned greenhouse, built in the form of a geodesic dome?

Following the talk, immerse yourself in the Climatron’s rich array of tropical plants and habitats. The Saint Louis Zoo will have tropical forest biofacts to share, offering a hands-on experience! During your Climatron visit, experts from the Missouri Botanical Garden and the Saint Louis Zoo will answer questions and share their knowledge and expertise about the unique animals and plants that make their home in this vibrant ecosystem.Whether you’re a curious adventurer, a passionate student, or simply seeking a slice of the tropics in the heart of winter, this event promises to be a morning of discovery, education, and fun for all ages.
